as with most ‘holiday’ destinations a majority of bars, taverna’s and coffee shops do close around the middle of October and open again come spring time. However, with around 2,500 permanent residence on the island we still need to shop, eat and drink year round. Gaios tends to have a little more open than the smaller villages of Loggos and Lakka and during the quieter months most places do close for siesta time from 2pm to 6pm. That said a couple of the supermarkets in Gaios are open through-out the day and you are able to find an all important coffee. In the smaller hamlets family run taverna’s are open most evenings whilst some prefer to open only at the week-ends.
During OffSeason enough will be open to self cater with mini-markets, bakery’s, butcher’s and Laiki (green grocer’s) open daily aswell as coffee shops and bars. In the evening a selection of taverna’s will open serving their own speciality dishes.
