Apokreas

is the ‘carnival’ time in Greece that proceeds the 40 days of fasting prior to Easter, it’s celebrated with much merriment, eating, drinking and dancing. In Athens and Patras large celebrations take place and locals take to the streets in fancy dress. On the island’s the children tend to celebrate and dress up on the 3 Sunday’s preceding Clean Monday.
