of Velientatika, home of the Vellianitis family was the starting point of our walk today. Although windy the weather has become milder and we walked in the sunshine through olive groves that first led to the ‘bathing hole’ named Bougazi. In years gone by it was the bathing spot for the men in the family, Avlaki Creek which is easier to reach was favoured by the ladies.
A scramble upwards led us to the Greek Sterna, originally built by the Greeks and where passing ships would collect water for the onward journey to Preveza. It was apparently re-built by the English which is why there is the argument over it’s name.
