                          “SPIRITUS MUNDI”

                             ART EXHIBITION by FIONA GILLIES

                        22-29 AUGUST 2013

                         OLD CUSTOMS HOUSE, LOGGOS

Scottish artist Fiona Gillies, has been sharing her time between Italy and Paxos, Greece for almost 20 years.  The light and landscapes of the Mediterranean with all its intense colors have greatly influenced her art work over those years. In her Gaios gallery the visitor can see or feel or think of Antipaxos sandy beaches, of the sun rising in pink glory or of the sparkling gold of the moon in August above Gaios harbor just by looking at her paintings.

In this exhibition she presents her work of oil on paper combined by highly textured surfaces. Silk and other fabrics, metal pieces blend wonderfully with her gold, red, pink strokes and spiritual symbols creating a spirit world… Ideas, symbols, images mix with symbols into a “language of the soul”, beyond ordinary speech communicating directly with the collective subconscious  of all receptive people, who will visit the Old Customs Gallery during Fiona’s exhibition.

Fiona Gillies studied art in Edinburgh College of Art. She has exhibited in the UK, Italy and Australia. Her paintings can be found in private collections worldwide. She spends her winters in Naples, where her teenage daughter, Sofia goes to school and her summers in Paxos, where she keeps an art gallery close to the main Gaios square.

Old Customs Municipal Gallery will be kept open daily during evening hours.
