make sure you’re star gazing

this evening as it’s the expected peak of the 2016 Perseid meteor shower.

If you do see the Perseids in outburst, you’ll see about double the usual rates, or about 200 meteors per hour and they also vary in colour.The best time to see them is in the few hours before dawn.

 

 

Barry Simmons at Lake Martin, Alabama caught this Perseid meteor in 2013.  Notice the colors!  The Perseids are known to be colorful meteors.
