From one rock to another

During the winter months a number of islanders tend to travel, especially in January and February when the weather can be pretty bleak on the island.

This winter I’ve returned to Sri Lanka for my third visit, I just keep getting drawn back here, I can’t pinpoint why, it’s a combination of the happiest smiley people, delicious food, incredible scenery and obviously the weather as their season is the opposite to ours in Greece.

My next few posts will therefore be non Paxos related but I hope you enjoy them all the same, a few photos to get started.

Spent the new year in Sri Lanka, our second visit and we love the place and echo you thoughts, great food, smashing people and terrific scenery. After a few days on the coast in the south west we travelled up northwards finishing in Trincomale we flew back down to Columbo in a small plane giving us the most wonderful views of many of the places we visited. Finished off with a few days in The Maldives
Thankyou for reminding me of Sri Lanka

    • Hi Brenda, what an incredible place to spend new year, I love the gentle pace of life here and instant smiles when passing people in the streets. We haven’t discovered the East coast as yet, that will have to be the next trip. Hope to see you in Paxos this summer.

We were there to celebrate my 70th on New Years Day, we did my 60th in South Africa. On New Years Eve there was a fabulous Gala Dinner at the hotel, with all the staff attending and the very real warmth of the greetings at midnight was heartening.
We will be arriving in Paxos in May for a month, looking forward to that, dull and dreary here this morning. Off skiing in Les Arcs at the weekend. Hope that you are both well
